Will be doing the upgrade this weekend. Will keep you posted on how it goes! And surely VLC will play blu ray discs? It plays everything else!!! Oh, sure, it will fit in there.
Heck, the system may even recognize for what it is. But with luck, DVD Player will let you watch a DVD, after you have regionalized it. Just a round piece of plastic, as far as the OS is concerned. Haven't you heard? The entertainment cabal finally managed to emasculate it. Now it won't even do out of region DVDs, much less Blu's. Mmmm, the Mac Mini i brought with the slot loader on ebay did not work some of the cables were frayed off the motherboard, repairable, but it would have cost a small fortune, so.
I sent it back, got a refund 🙂 and brought a new one from apple (without the slot load) i also brought a Samdung (LOL) external blu ray drive, which i have to say, works very well. After searching around on the web i found a program capable of ripping blurays for free and only for back up of course (cant remember what it was called, at work @ the moment - will update later) then just drag and drop them into VLC after ripping (MKV) and hey presto it works. Macblurayplayer doesn't work with the most recent bluray discs like 'Life' (the new BBC documentaries in bluray) etc. Has for months that I write to customer service but without solving anything. And this is not due from my hardware configuration (I'm even bought a new recorder). Since Macblurayplayer, besides all the crap that makes, use the internet connection for downloading various data, I think that there is some trouble with different countries (I'm italian that is not a 'core' country).
Macblurayplayer is not the solution, is the bad end of a drama. Apple Footer. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
