Desktop Shortcuts Won't Work. : Steam For Mac
Posted By admin On 26.02.20Hey all, I have a 2006 Core 2 Duo iMac running the latest version of Lion (10.7.4, as of this writing) and it runs well. There is just one little annoying problem I have run into lately that I haven't solved, despite finding other posts online with the exact same problem. In my System Preferences, under the Mission Control options, the Show Desktop shortcut selector works with any keyboard shortcut I assign to it. However, when I try to assign any mouse button as a shortcut, it does not work at all.
The strange thing is, it used to work awhile back, so I'm wondering if some sort of.plist got corrupted or somehow wrongly edited. I did reboot into Safe Mode, and ran a Permissions Repair from there, and I also reset the PMC by unplugging the Mac for a minute. I also ran Preferential Treatment with full permissions for both User and System Preferences, but all the.plist files it checked came up clean. Unfortunately, none of the above worked, hence why I am posting this: if anyone has any suggestions or advice on how to get the mouse shortcut working for Show Desktop again, I'd love to hear it!
This time out, you can lead your gun-toting character towards a variety of different life paths, including a serial killer, an activist gone eco-terrorist, and, most vile of all, a presidential candidate.
I think there are 2 things you can try to do: 1. Uninstall the FireWall, Restart the PC then reinstall Steam again. From the Error it might be because of your FireWall that block Steam from access to the Internet. Disable 'Account Control settings' (If you use Windows Vista/7) by Go: Control Panel - User Accounts and Family Safety - User Accounts - Change User Account Control Settings - Set it to 'Never Notify - Restart the PC and Reinstall the Steam. Uninstall Steam before you restart the PC.

I found this on Steam. Edit Can't link it so I'll copy and past: Question. Steam fails to install or update and returns the error Steam.exe (Main Exception): ERROR: delete of steam.exe failed,Win32 Error 5 'Access is denied' or Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR: deleted Steam.exe but the file is still there - what should I do?. Steam attempts to update but repeatedly progresses to 26 or27% then restarts the update, or stalls at 27% Answer This error is caused by a lack of user permissions, having the Steam.exe file attributes set to 'Read Only', or by another program interfering with Steam's installation process (if the Steam client application has been updated to a version which was not included with your Steam installer package, Steam will download a new copy of itself and then delete the old Steam.exe file unless another program interferes).

Check your Windows user permissions Please ensure that you are logged in as an administrator on the machine which you are using to install Steam. I downloaded AVG PRO 2011 and it shows that steam is allowed for all SimplyFatal Antivirus and firewall program sometimes can blocks your programs ever it says that its 'Allowed' it to access to the internet. So try to uninstall every Firewall and Antivirus program and close all unnecessary program and then run Steam as Administrator. Right Click on Steam Icon - Properties - Compatiblity - Maker 'Run this program as an Administrator' - Click 'OK' and then run Steam. Remember to restart computer after uninstall all Firewall and Antivirus program.
